NOT MY GOVERNMENT FORUM QUICK TIPS (v09.06.10) Here are some quick tips on using the Not My Government forum. Note that you have to spend some hours in learning the operation and complexity of the NMG Forum. Keep in mind that children go to school 6 hours a day, hence spending 4-6 hours to understand the fourm operation is nothing. We welcome any comments on any issues that you may have. We can then add them to assist others. ______________ >>> USER CONTROL PANEL (User CP) The User Control Panel is where you will find: 1) Personal settings for your Profile 2) Private Messaging for Members 3) Your Custom Posting Accounting Please take some time and get to know your Control Panel. Please adjust all your personal settings. We would like to see members use an Avatar (a personal picture). This allows other members a quick reference on who has made a post. ______________ >>> POSTING Posting in General When making posts please use proper grammatical styles. In this day and age it seems that some people are letting the rules of proper grammar go by the wayside. In this day in age most people are slipping in their grammar and writing skills. As we are attempting to fix the damage done, use some "eloquence" in your posts. To see your post as you create it, use Live Preview. And, some copy and paste posts may enter differently into the text posting area. Sometimes paragraph spacing is deleted, i.e. make sure there is spacing between paragraphs. Live Preview This feature appears at the top of the posting page area. Click on the 'plus sign' to open Live Preview. This gives you an instant view of your post as you are creating it. Cutting and Pasting To Cut and Paste items when making posts or replies, use the following keyboard actions: "Ctrl C" = Copy "Ctrl V" = Paste "Ctrl X" = Cut Editing Your Posts You are allowed to go and edit your posts. You have some time to do this without a notation showing up at the bottom of the post. Do not use all caps When making posts please do not use all caps. This is extremely hard to read, as studies have shown. Font colors and styles Although the forum allows custom font and colors (expanded HTML formatting), please try and keep your posts in the default character. Enable auto-copy Message If you are making a long and detailed post it is a good idea to use the "Enable auto-copy Message". You will find the feature (a check box) at the bottom of the Post Reply page under the data entry area. This will copy you post to your clipboard in case the connection to the server fails you may lose your work. Copying it to the clipboard will allow you to go back and paste it back in. ------------- Forum Pointers and Etiquette Consider how the little tangents significantly distract from the matters at hand. • One should understand that it is safe to assume that our attention is constantly being pulled in different directions, and thousands of topics surrounding the corruption of the organic government all seem to sparkle and titillate. We MUST keep EVERYTHING posted on this site POINTING TOWARDS THE 14TH AMENDMENT. If the only thing posted here shows how all the tangents ultimately lead back to the 14th, then we are able to more easily make it glaringly obvious that the crux is indeed the 14th amendment. The 14th Amendment is completely understandable by anyone. • The complexity of anything can cause someone to shut down their critical thinking processes and we should all be sensitive to things that we do, having traveled so far already, to folks who are taking their first step. Everything, and we do mean EVERYTHING, should consider the audience and their naivety surrounding the subject. This does not mean that we need to tip-toe around the issues, or dumb them down, but that our expectations should be that anyone and everyone can understand the meat of this issue and that we're the only people that will be able to explain it to them in a way that they can understand. The actions of an octopus are easily understood when observed one arm at a time. Acknowledging someone as a neophyte is often the first step in leveling the field and accepting that we have to work just as hard to make the information understandable as the person that is trying to understand it. There are kooks everywhere. • This does not mean that we cannot use them to our advantage by contrasting their beliefs with what we know. PAC thinks it is incredibly dangerous to shut someone down because of the impact it has on those watching it happen. Anytime someone's opinion is shot-down, it needs to be done in a way that helps them to move forward in their understanding of what we already know. We all need to remember that later on people will mentally review what has happened and if we leave someone with a positive FEELING then they are more apt to just simply listen, and actually consider with greater weight what we know, the next time they interact with us. There are more than two ways to accomplish anything. • If you're in the town of Denver in the Republic of Colorado and you want to travel to San Diego in the Republic of California, there is nothing that says that you can't head East to get there. Most people think that there is only the "Best" way. However, everyone has differing needs and sometimes simply admitting that going East isn't the fastest way, but is certainly the most scenic, will remove any presumed prejudice that folks may have when considering what we are trying to convey. For example, some people want to fight traffic tickets using the rules that the government has put in place, simply to prove that the government is corrupt. Others already know the corruption, know that they could easily beat them using their own rules and know that they do not play by their own rules. As such, would you rather not even be on the same court with them to play, so you may choose to quit playing the game altogether rather than practicing for your next encounter with a cheat. Never put down someone for trying the "long" way; it is their right to be as zany as they want. Maybe they will learn something valuable that they can share with you that will assist you with what you are doing. Finding common ground is the ULTIMATE way to help someone understand something new. • Bridging the gap between what is going on in someone's life and the effects of the 14th amendment will build bridges that we desperately need in order to connect with folks who have a reason to utilize the knowledge gained by inspecting the 14th amendment. Everyone has different experiences; it is the commonality of those experiences that we should focus on when trying to show someone something they may have never seen before. You may find yourself using the phrase, "What do you mean?" after someone says something that you might be able to use to find common ground, and you should never make assumptions about what they mean. Be consistent in the language used. • It is incredibly important that newcomers are not confused by lackadaisical usage of language. We should always attempt to use clear and concise messages designed to show that we are perfectly precise in how we handle ourselves in order to set an example for others of the seriousness that exists for those who comprehend the damage done by the options offered within the 14th amendment. Once such clarity that I have adopted so far is to use the term "federation" or "union" instead of "nation" when referring to the entity created when some of the organic states delegated some of the rights they had during a gathering in 1787. Using different language than that used every day by the masses causes others to look at the information we offer with fresh eyes. Be kind and gentle, and never a sissy. • Handling conversations with the correct words can convert an enemy into an ally, something we all want to do daily. It is just as important that we have the ability to agree to disagree on everything. If we have solid information to back up our position, we never have to resort to mudslinging or demeaning the work towards freedom done by others. We simply need to assist them in adjusting to our direction by cheerfully skipping on the path that we are on, and constantly checking to see if they are headed our way. We are trying to undo the entrapment that the masses are in, and we can never do that if what we offer, and how we offer it, is more bothersome than the alternative. _____________ Download this Help Document for futrue reference: http://www.notmygovernment.us/forumtips For general assistance with the forum, go to: http://www.notmygovernment.us/forumhelp Also, for simplified help with the PAC Web Portal, go to: http://www.notmygovernment.us/dummies Regards, the NMG Staff Under Development...
